What is SSC CGL Exam
Staff Selection Commission – Combined Graduate Level Examination, often referred to as SSC CGL is an examination conducted to recruit staff to various posts in ministries, departments and organisations of the Government of India. It is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission for selecting staff for various Group B and Group C posts. The Staff Selection Commission was established in 1975.
What is the eligibility criteria for SSC CGL?
- Candidates who are willing to fill the application form of SSC CGL 2017 must read the eligibility criteria to ascertain their academic and age qualification as asked by the examination authority Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
- As per the SSC CGL 2017 eligibility criteria, candidates must be between 18 and 31 years as on August 1, 2017 and have graduation degree in any stream can fill the application form. The recruitment of candidates will be done only on fulfilment of SSC CGL 2017 eligibility criteria.
Candidates are advised to carefully read the CGL eligibility before beginning the online registration of SSC CGL 2017. Candidates can fill SSC CGL 2017 application form now as it has been released on May 16, 2017 in online mode. The detail of SSC CGL eligibility 2017 for different posts is given below.
What is the Syllabus Structure of SSC CGL Examination?
Now SSC will conduct both Tier I and Tier II exam in online mode. Reduce the time limit for examination of Tier -I from 75 minutes to 60 minutes.
SSC CGL Tier II will remain same.: Introduce a descriptive paper of 100 marks within 60 minutes in pen and paper mode. No Sectional Cut off.

- Quantitative Aptitude – 50 Marks for 25 Questions
- General English – 50 Marks for 25 Questions
- General Awareness – 50 Marks for 25 Questions

What is the Application fee for SSC CGL?
General and OBC candidates have to pay 100/- as registration fee. SC, ST, PWD and women do not need to pay any fee. Payment can be done via both online mode offline modes.
Mode of payment:
Applicants have to pay fee through State Bank of India only either in the form of challan, generated on line, or through SBI Net Banking.
How many times can I appear for this SSC CGL exam?
There is no restriction in the number of attempts for SSC CGL as long as you are eligible for it.
The only restrictions would be in terms of eligibility criteria like age, educational qualification, nationality, etc.
How to apply for SSC CGL exam online?
Procedures to fill Online Application form are given below:
Firstly, click on the direct apply link provided above.
Now, application form window will open.
SSC CGL Online Application Form 2017 is divided into two parts i.e. Registration Part and Apply Part.
Begin with the Registration Part in which candidates need to fill all the relevant details such as Applicant Name, Education, Date of Birth, Category, Email ID, Address, Mobile Phone Number etc.
After filling the required details in the Registration Part, click “I agree” button.
Apply Part requires filling payment details, uploading of photograph and scanned signature.
The candidates have to pay the requisite fee only thru challan or SBI Net Banking or any Credit/ Debit Card.
Then upload a recently taken photograph in JPG format. The digital size of the file must be less than 12 kb and greater than 4 kb with the resolution of 100 pixel widths by 120 pixels height.
Then upload your scanned signature in JPG format. The digital size of the file must be less than 12 kb and greater than 1 kb with the resolution of 140 pixel widths by 60 pixels height.
Take the print out of your submitted application form.
Emails will be received by the candidates on completion of “Apply Part”. Candidate can retain the copy of e-mail for further reference.
Can I fill the SSC CGL application form offline?
No You can’t apply offline for SSC CGL.
